| One of E's phonics games I did. They have the best ideas in Abeka sometimes. He had to read all these words to get through the forest. He was lost and had to make it to the house:) |
I kept E busy all afternoon yesterday w/ painting, breaking out the color wonder paper and markers and just letting him freeplay while brother slept. Amazing how he just has to be kept so engaged and then I have no problems. I'm trying to find diff solutions than just letting him get on the computer and watch 2 hrs of movies every afternoon, which bugs me to no end.
The colonoscopy went great. The prep went terrible. I really thought I'd have a moment or 2 where I'd hurl towards the end, but it was more like 30 min in (had to down 8 oz every ten min for 3 hrs straight), I started puking and couldn't stop. It was terrible. It's like what I was drinking wasn't going anywhere and my stomach started getting really swollen again. The drink smelled of cherries, but tasted like dirty feet water, and even w/ putting in the fridge 2 hrs ahead of time, it was lukewarm at best. After I puked I got in the shower and took a 20 min break before I started in again. I'd puke a little bit each time til I finally only drank like 3-4 oz every 10-15 minutes and it started making me physically ill.

| Me, sick as a dog, during prep. This is prob'ly the scariest pic of me of all time. hhaaa. Nice. |
I finally caved and called the doc on call bc I was so sick and upset and just worried...that after all this, I wouldn't be able to have my test bc I wasn't flushed out enough. The doc on call called me back and told me to drink 2 rounds of miralax, my powdered laxative, in a drink about an hr apart. I was more than relieved to quit chugging that nightmare of prep. I'd drunk about 1/2 of it, so 2 liters. FINALLY, after about another hour, things started to get moving and I felt so much better. Drinking the stuff was the worst part. The bathroom part wasn't nearly as bad as everyone had told me. I went in to the doc the next morning, and took my 4 liter jug w/ me. THe receptionist looked at me kinda strange, like "who cares?" and asked if I'd gone to the bathroom at all...I'm like, um yeah! ??? So seemed to me that many ppl didn't do the prep or finish it and they coulda cared less. Nice to know after all that stress. I went back and got changed and they got my IV in on the 1st try. I was so relieved. They wheeled me into the room and briefly chatted w/ the nurse and anetheisiologist (sp)...she started the drugs and told me to close my eyes and not talk. Next thing I know I'm awake asking if they were gonna be able to do it, to which they replied, "oh, you're already DONE, honey!" hhaa. Too funny. I had cottonmouth bad, as I'd not been allowed to drink anything after 11 the night before. It was around 9:45 am. They told me to chill for 8 more minutes (?) and then they gave me some OJ and Randall came back. The heifer took a pic of me, and my face looked kinda crazed, although my hair did look stunning somehow-ha. The doc came in w/ a sheet showing 5 diff pics of my colon and told me they'd found and removed 1 small polyp, that would be sent off for testing. Some turn cancerous and others don't, so hopefully I won't hear from them, which means good news. I did have an area too, in my sigmoid colon, of diverticulosis, but mild, so...all in all good news. Things could be a lot worse. I'm going to carry on w/ my healthy lifestyle and eating and try to down a lot more fluids daily and work out. Working out seems to be the key in keeping things moving for me. I am praying I will always stay more mindful of my eating and plumbing habits from now on out;) Pretty much been eating the majority of vegan/vegetarian foods, but did have some ckn tacos the other night. used organic. I have no idea what I'm doing as far as cooking meals though. Feels like I'm starting over, after all these years of getting good recipes and cooking. Now I'm starting at square one finding good ones. I'm on recipe 3 of this slow cooker vegan book I've rented and the 1st two had to basically toss bc they were so bad and bland. So frustrating. Tonight I'm making teriyaki "ckn" w/ red/green bell peppers and pineapple. Think I'll make some brown rice to throw it over:) Smellin' GOOD too. Anything's better w/ teriyaki sauce:)!
I went to the gym yesterday after school and just ran. Ran 2 mile interval run w/ some breaks in between. Total of 2.87 miles in 34 minutes. 1st mile at 5.5, then 3 diff .25 mile segments at 6.5mph, w/ a .25 at 7 mph thrown in there!! I felt strong, pace felt natural...like I was flying! Course my lungs still have some catching up to do, so I was nice and flushed bright red and sweating like a mother at the end:) But it was great. I finally felt like "I'm BACK!!" and that felt amazing. I even skipped my Bunco night for a healthier choice of Body Pump class last night. Got there 5 min late and had to set up in front of an already working-out class (felt so dumb) and my friend ended up not being there bc she had to take her daughter home! But it was a smaller class--only about 8 ppl or so, and a diff teacher, who was good and killed me. She's not quite as fun, nor play as good of music as the other girl, but still wonderful. They're letting me try it out a few times before I pay, so that is awesome. It'll be 7 bucks a class, and I'm planning on going once a week. I LOVE it, and I'm getting used to my body being in PAIN the whole workout. I can already tell my bod changing after 3 classes, no joke. That teacher looks like malibu barbie, but prettier and w/ a killer physique. Wow!
Well, off to fold some clothes. or do dishes. Kids have Awana tonight and are taking a nap right now. They've been "swimming" or jumping on our bouncy thing in the backyard w/ the sprinkler for the last 5 days straight. I even laid out and got a tan today:) it is sooo hot!
