A few months ago I got a recipe from a blog/Pinterest and decided to give it a try. Randall LOVES root beer (I can't stand it), so I'm making him a root beer cake! It's actually dark chocolate/root beer cake, w/ dark choc/root beer buttercream frosting. It's made in a bundt pan~a first for me, shockingly. It was really easy to make, just made a big mess:) It's cooling now and hoping that what's left of the icing is enough to ice it. Me and R couldn't keep taking swipes of it bc it was SO good! I even made him a root beer float tonight w/ the leftover root beer and vanilla bean icecream I bought to go w/ the cake:)) I'm proud of myself. He thought I was crazy when I told him I was making him a root beer cake! hhaa. I love throwing him off guard.

I also really wanted to do something COOL this year...not the usual tee shirts and such...Sooo, after a g'friend on FB mentioned she got her hubby tix to go skydiving, I got an idea.... Get him tix to do something he'll never forget!! He loves to fish, so I checked some places online and got him a full day of deep sea fishing!! We're staying at Makai in Ormond Beach this weekend, and this charter goes out from Ponce Inlet, on the other side of Daytona, which is the next beach down. He has to be there by 7:30 on Saturday and gets back off the boat at 4:30!!! They'll filet/bag all his keepers, so hopefully he'll be coming home w/ some awesome tasty fish for us all to eat!! I mentioned it all to Mom, asking if Dad could spare around $100 and he called me back and said he thinks he's game too! I kinda hated for R to go out all by himself...much more fun w/ friends y'know?! So Dad will prob'ly come down Friday night and stay the night w/ us, go fishing then head back home. We'll stay til Sunday afternoon. I'm so psyched to tell him! I got him a few things as clues, so hope he'll figure it out. Got him a new cooler (to hold all the fish), some polarized sunglasses, snacks for the trip, and a new "life is good" shirt from Wally that says "weekend forecast" and has a pic of a fishing hat, tackle box and fishing pole:) Think i'll throw some Dramamine in there too and I think he'll figure it out. I'd love to go fishing sometime too out there, but want him to really enjoy it and not be worried w/ helping me, since I'm clueless. It was 75$ for a whole day, and I thought that was a pretty good deal. The 1st place I called was 90$ and they were already full for Saturday.
We also got a babysitter for tomorrow night. I'm hoping we can have some fun at Easy Street riding some go-carts and such, and then hit up Yamato after that. Haven't had Japanese steakhouse in a coon's age:) So, all in all, I think he's having a rocking b'day for sure!!
Well, I'm pooped and the house is a disaster. R's been sick and didn't leave for work til around 10am today. He's never sick, so that was something. I told him to wake me up at 6:45....instead the sun woke me up at 8am, so I was running behind all day:/
