I needed a day "off" today. I've been feeling "off" the past coupla weeks. Mainly just super tired and not real organized. I accredit most of it to not getting enough sleep and not exercising like I should be. And I attribute most that to being too busy lately w/ too many things to do on the ole calendar. Now that Awana is coming to a close and school is winding down, I'm feeling some light at the end of the tunnel.
Slept in this morning and decided to jump up w/ my greasy hair and go yard saling w/ the boys. I'd mentioned it last night bc it'd been ages since we'd done it. We hit up about 4-5 sales, none of which had much to write home about, but the 1st one had a big book shelf filled w/ some decent books. I love it when ppl just say a quarter a book:) I got the 1st 5 Lemony Snickett books, some cool Nat Geo pic books, some American Girl and Nancy Drew books to give to Liz for Lily, Tuesdays w/ Morrie for myself. Then we hit up another sale and they had books 7-10 of Lemony Snickett. Funny when things like that happen. Never seen those books before and then 2 on the same day. Weird. Not sure if they're kid-approved, so will hafta check them out. We went to Subway for lunch and I caved and got a ckn sandwich. Haven't had chicken in prob'ly 2 weeks. It was pretty tasty, but I'm sure not missing it like I thought I would.
After that, R had decided to take the kids out fishing and I was gonna stay home and clean my bedroom. I'll post pics later of how bad it was. ugh. Just clothes outta control. I've always struggled w/ the ole laundry issue. Clean clothes just piling up and taking over a room. So irritating. It mostly happens in our room bc that's where I fold it at. I don't like it cluttering up the living room, so i just put it in our room and then it goes wild from there. I need to work on a better "system" for laundry, or start making the kids do their own? much to think about this summer in how to make Mommy's load lighter and get the kids more involved. I was impressed the other day bc E didn't wanna take a nap, but asked to watch a movie instead. I told him he couldn't unless he cleaned the entire playroom by himself. He spent a good 30 min putting all the toys away in semi-right spots and really made it look awesome! I was so in shock....same night I had to give a massage so it was one less thing for me to clean and make presentable. So yeah, gotta keep that ball rolling.
I went yesterday after school to storytime w/ the kids and got them another bunch of books. I got one w/ some messed up fairy tales that was pretty funny. Some of the stories are dumb but "the stinky cheese man" aka the gingerbread man, and "little red running shorts" and "cinderumplestiltskin" were so funny. Evan's been reading even the books that I rent to read to them, so that's been funny. Anywho, after storytime, went to Ocala to the Hilton to look at Abeka stuff. Came to the conclusion that M was nowhere ready for preK this fall, so will do what I did w/ E w/ him too, just doing other preschool activities and papers and getting him used to motor skills to write. I'll work more w/ him next summer on getting ready for kindergarten. I'm all about not starting them too early, so turning them off to the idea of school but making it fun. He's already done most his 3 yr old #'s book, so he's done good. I ended up ordering the parent and child kits for grade 1 for Evan, as they were not only 10% off and free shipping, but ANOTHER 10% off if I ordered that day, so I went ahead. It comes w/ EVERYTHING other than Bible and Arts & crafts, so I did order the art book too. The crafts are fairly easy to do and fun and he liked them. I found a really great Bible curriculum from talking w/ my old Wilds roomate on FB. She has 4 kids she hs's too, so was really helpful in that regard. There were 2 to choose from, but one seemed a little more geared towards younger, so thought M would be able to be more involved w/ that as well, since he always does Bible w/ us. I'm getting excited about next year already:). The Abeka guy said my books would be at my house in 7-10 days!! so I can't wait to look at them and see what's up. Science, comm helpers, Health, Our America is also included in the set this year, so I'm hoping I will like some of that. Was wanting to branch out and mix diff curriculums, but then I go and buy the whole set. hhaa. Leave it to me. I feel relieved though, not to hafta worry too much about next year! The curriculum worked so well for us last year, other than getting sorta boring at times, so am wanting to spend the summer coming up w/ some cool visuals or crafts/games to go along w/ stuff to make it more fun. My Pinterest is getting pretty hammered as of late;)
Well, best go finish my laundry. Couple more loads left to fold. Baskets are full too, but another day, another dollar. I wanted to make fresh pizza dough and taco pizza for dinner but alas, that will not happen now, since i decided to take a 2 and 1/2 hr nap. I needed it. I was yelling at the kids too much and being an angry bear. Evan's been going thru another "ask 900 questions a day" phase, so it's been making my brain go on overload, and making me want to beat my head against a wall;) ha. He needed some DAD time today. Randall is an amazing husband to know when to take them for the day. I love him.
Well, later taters.
