I smell some schoolin' up in herrr!

Well, spent the entire afternoon and til, well, about 1 am this morning, getting ready for
our 1st day of school tomorrow. It always takes longer than I imagine it will in my mind:).
I spent a little more time laminating some stuff myself, and cutting out, organizing, making labels, etc,
and then also planned 5 days of school for every subject but Math. I can already tell
1st grade is going to be a lot more work than kindergarten. I'm excited to watch both my
boys learn, grow, and change this year. Blows my mind we are already starting, but I wanted
to start sooner rather than later this year, to get a jumpstart. Who knows...we may even end EARLY
this year!!! Please, GOD! I am really excited about our new Bible curriculum this year....
It makes the Bible so REAL for little kids. Heck, I am even getting a lot out of it!
Here are a few pics from my day...my "process".  I will warn you, I plan school a little how I cook~all over the place and messy!! But it turns out good in the end and then I clean up afterward:).
I will hopefully post some 1st day of school pics tomorrow. Must. Get. Sleep.  NIGHT!

Mid lesson planning. I don't even know how I work like this, but I do. Thankfully
it doesn't look like this every day!

Excited to be starting out with cursive this year!! A first!  We chose to focus on
manuscript last year and I'm glad we did. I think he'll do smashing at this:)
Should be "fun" for me, as I never write in cursive, so I'll get my practice
writing his lessons on the board this year-ha!

Spent a lot of time putting tabs in my teacher books. A lot more subjects this
year to cover. Exciting stuff like Poetry, Science, Community Helpers, and
Health etc.

New shelving system for the schoolin' stuff!! It's so much roomier. Still need to get another couple canvas totes for it, and I plan to put a cool bulletin board above it. On the opposite wall I'm hanging a wire system w/ clips that hold the boys' artwork for display. Baby steps...I have big plans in my head:)

  1. I'm so proud of you! I'm very much in awe of the wonderful things you always do for your boys. Educating them is one of the biggest jobs a parent can do and you tackle it with excitement and it's no wonder Evan & Miles are amazingly smart kids! What a gem they have for a mother! I prayed a long prayer for you yesterday. I asked God to bless all your efforts this school year and really keep you and the boys focused on the goal at hand. I also asked him to give you strength to get all your planning done. I pray today, that you and the boys have an amazing
first day of school! I love you girl!

  2. Wow, thanks so much girl!! I have been praying hard too. I want to be more diligent this year w/ my attitude and consistency. So far, we've started school late, but have done well. I plan to do better next week! I'm really wanting to start school by at least 9, so we can either go somewhere after or do the gym. It's amazing to me what all E's retained, even over the summer. Miles is doing so well and staying so focused on the task at hand. I didn't know how he would do, so I'm so grateful!! love you and envy your prayers!! God knows I need them daily. Love you!
