Well, just finished w/ 2+ hrs of school planning. Crazy how long this 1st grade stuff is taking me. I hafta find a better/faster way. I felt like I had pretty good speed tonight and kept on task, but had to figure out a couple new things... Evan's 1st TESTS!! Wow, seems crazy he'll be testing and doing speed drills in math every week:) He is sure growing up.
So far, it's been really easy for Evan. Seems like Abeka reviews a TON the first 6+ weeks of school, so I'm trying to just breeze thru and not do every single thing they say to do if he already knows it. He gets the glazed eye look when I spend too much time-ha. Miles is loving his little school time. He is doing really well, and I'm hoping I'll have him up to speed to start K5 next year, but we'll see. I'm not sure he's quite as advanced as Evan, but I'm jumping the gun and saying that. I think after Christmas I'll really start in on the letters/writing w/ him more, and hopefully he'll be ready by next year. I'd love to keep the boys 2 yrs apart in school, but w/ starting Evan a year early, I'm not sure M will be ready by then. Diff kids for sure. I am foreseeing M having more trouble w/ writing and coordination, but he's pretty confident and has a great attention span, so we'll just hafta see how it plays out.
Did school today and then met up w/ the new HS group at the bowling alley for prob'ly our last free bowling of the summer. The kids all had a blast and all the kids were so sweet and well-behaved. Miles was the youngest one bowling and he just got up there and did it like the big kids. He cracks me up like that. Little big man. Seems to be a lot of youngsters Evan's age...in the 5-7 age bracket. Next Thursday starts our 1st 9 week co-op classes:)) I'm excited. I ended up putting Evan in Art for the 1st class (his request), Story Stretchers for 2nd period, and Personal Fitness for the 3rd period. I think he will have a blast with all that. He LOVES art, and is so creative. I hope he really likes that class the most. Miles will be in the preschool class, where I'll be volunteering one hour. I'll also be helping out w/ another class (not sure which one(s) yet), and then I'll get an hour of free time for myself. Not sure if I'll spend it gabbing or reading, but hopefully some of both:)) Oh sweet freedom!! I can already tell it's gonna be a great school year as far as more fun and interaction, which we all need!!! Lots of fieldtrips are becoming available too for awesome prices. Amazing what benefit you get from being in a group!!! yeah!
Anywho, will hafta post pics later of my Georgia trip. I headed up Thursday to see Liz and the girls and got back Sunday night. We had a really great time catching up and letting the kids play. They all love each other so much and I swear, never fought!!! We had some good laughs and made some great memories. I sure miss her. My fun, spontaneous, REAL friend!!!
Night all.
