Good start

Well, today's been a good start to the week so far:) R came home around 9ish and picked up Miles. He can't take the kids every day this week, but I will enjoy the days he can!! Me and E got right down to school, which is getting to be more work by the day. LOTS of writing and LOTS of papers. He did so well, never complaining, and took his time on everything. I was so thankful. He is also reading so well now. Seems like after I got home from the hospital, he was just flying right along and enjoying it!! He'd been doing a lot of sighing and rolling the eyes before, so I was thrilled. I asked Mom what she did while I was gone, and she said nothing, that kids always seem to blossom after the holidays. Just the time of year. I think his brain just clicked one day.

Starting last week I started in on 2 vowel words and long vowel sounds, and he'd doing really well with that. He's also 4 verses away from finishing his 1st Spark's book in Awana!!! He loves to memorize and hear all the stories. I'm looking forward to him learning Eph 6:1 soon:)) and making the charts for chores as they have listed in the book. It's working out really well for our Bible time. He got his pinewood derby "car" or block of wood, and that's the end of the month. Randall's s'posed to be building that with him, so hopefully they'll start this week. That should be interesting. We've never done a pinewood car before. I'm glad they'll be doing that, bc there's a lot of rules and measurements involved. I just like the painting and blinging out w/ headlights and grills part:)) Saw a little aisle of pinewood derby stuff at Hobby Lobby but R guffawed at the thought. I thought it was rad. We'll see what happens:)

Been also doing more and more research since watching "forks over knives" and "fat, sick, and nearly dead"...just really convicting to me about how I need to be wise in how I need to eat and feed my kids. I picked up my vegan 30 min cookbook and started reading thru it. I read in the front and how they explained it and looked through and found some amazing regular recipes of things we could switch out--chili, fajitas, nacho's, etc. I think if we just swapped out the animal foods for non-animal, that that would make a huge difference. I'd love to get a juicer too, but haven't researched them and not sure we could afford it right now. It'd hafta be my b'day present. ha. But just getting back to the way I was thinking a couple yrs ago....I need to stop being so lazy, do the work (research, finding out where to buy ingredients in this small lame town), and make some changes. I'd love to get Mom on board, w/ Dad's cancer....so we shall see. Been thinking of calling up my cool, vegan friend and asking her to go shopping with me to give me some helpful tips on cooking!! As long as it tastes good and is easy to make, I'm game. R has even been asking me what to eat and got a bean fresco burrito at Taco Bell yesterday! I was so proud!!

My health continues to improve, I think. I'm feeling a bit more energetic today and have gone back to eating very little at a time. I don't think it's what I'm eating, but how much. I do good til dinner, but last night had a saucer w/ 1/2 of it filled w/ sweet potato, 1/2 a small ckn breast, some cottage cheese and a roll, and omg, was paying for it this morning. My stomach bloated up so much last night, it was crazy. I will be asking the doc if this is normal or if he thinks it could be gluten related. Surely there's gluten in that cream of ckn soup i used on the ckn I cooked in the crock. Either way, my plumbing still isn't where it needs to be , and it frustrates me, so I continue to track it and make changes to see how it reacts. Makes my brain tired.

Well, off to make E a late lunch. The kid could eat PB & J 10x a week and be fine. Reminds me of my bro at this age. So funny. Think I'll eat a turkey burger. yee haw.
