Jamie, so tanned and bronzed, making us FL peeps look pitiful:)
We stopped at Cracker Barrel to eat a late lunch and did a bit of shopping (which was to become a trend:). It was so fun to all be together and laughing and running our mouths like the good old days. We never stopped laughing the entire weekend!
1st time all together in a couple years:) So happy to see them. Not sure why me and Liz always accidentally match.:)
After we left there we hauled on up to the cabin, which was about 1.5 hrs north, and stopped in at Wally to get a few necessities before heading up to the cabin. We got "home" around 5-6ish I think?? We hung out, ate icecream for dinner and chilled in the hot tub for the next couple hours:)
The next morning we woke up and Ash cooked us homemade biscuits and gravy, which were to die for!!!, then got dressed and headed into Blue Ridge to do some shopping. We stayed all day, and we each left w/ lots of cool stuff.
Let the Shopping BEGIN!! Downtown Blue Ridge, GA...best place to shop! I always seem to make a pic look awkward...hhaaa. Oh well, even better!
I got a cool wide belt, some house decor..Jamie got a slammin' new pair of blinged out jeans...Liz got a cool new wrap bracelet watch, and Ash got some cute new clothes for her daughter at this amazing kids boutique. It was so weird to be able to shop in peace, with actual money and not be meeting ppl back at the car to trade off kids every 30 minutes!! This was the only day my stomach was a wreck, so had to down a pain pill and chill for a bit...but I really tried to stay on my restricted diet the rest the trip. Mercier was the real test. Before leaving Blue Ridge, we went to the cutest lil bakery, which was just on Cupcake Wars and got a dozen of their cupcakes for 12$ off since it was closing time! They were IN-sane! We tried to hit up Mercier on the way home but missed it by 10 minutes:((
Right before leaving downtown Blue Ridge. Wonderful day shopping:)
We chilled at the cabin that night and watched Breaking Dawn, but I fell out early and tapped out, heading upstairs to pass out.
The next morning we woke up and I made sweet potato french toast, which was insane too! We got ready and headed out in the freezing windy weather to drive to Amicalola Falls State Park near Dahlonega. We started at the base of the falls and hiked up, taking some pics at a lower level, before Jamie realized when she came w/ her family a couple years back they'd taken the wheelchair accessible route and gotten way closer to the top of the falls w/ much better pic-taking opportunities....so, Liz drove to that entrance and we hiked that, bugging random strangers to snap a few pics of us.
The view of the Falls from the bottom by the fish pond:) Crazy how high it is.
Us at the lower level of the falls. You can see the higher deck in the background further up. We were Freezing!!! The wind was whipping bad that day!
Us at the highest picture op in front of the falls:) Hard to get a good one w/ the sun blaring in our faces!!
It was GORgeous there and incredibly peaceful. We saw an older man, at one point, hiking up so fast and we were told he holds the record for the most times assending/descending the falls stairs in one day. 50x in one day!!!! and up/down only counts for 1x!!! Talk about BA! After that we drove to the top of the falls and took some cool pics and then checked out the gift shop and got a lot more stuff...souvenirs for the kids and I got a beautiful leaf necklace I'd seen a couple yrs back and couldn't get my mind off of. It's a cottonwood leaf dipped in sterling silver and it looks like a heart. I've always loved trees, so it just made me happy:) After that we decided to trip in to Dahlonega and look for the boot store one of the store owners had told us about, in search of some cowboy boots for me. We also missed that store by about 5 minutes so I wanted to cry like a big baby. Instead we found a new locally owned chocolate shop, where we all got a few diff crazy things like chocolate covered BACON --OMG! (not me! but looked interesting!!), choc covered pringles, homemade marshmallows and caramel/choc covered apples. LOVED that place! Then we all got some goodies in the General Store there on the square, which has killer cheap stuff and fun stuff for the kids. We were told by the beef jerky store owner about another western store in Dawsonville, right down the road so headed there next:) After trying on about 5-6 pr, I finally agreed on a pair of beautiful Ariat's in a camel color w/ choc suede and turquoise crosses on them. They are so pretty.
I was afraid they were maybe a little too western, but after looking for awhile I commited to them. Talk about nervous shelling out that $$!! But I'm really loving them and having fun breaking them in!
We went to Lonestar Steakhouse after that and shared some shrimp and got a sweet potato there. Great food...wow. Then went down to this huge movie theater they had there and me and Ash saw "Gone" while Liz and Ash went to see "The Vow" which me and Ash had already seen. I chewed my nails to the bone and screamed out loud in one part, but it was a GREAT movie! In-tense!!!
Went home and got there about 1am, and proceded to hot tub until around 6am!!!! we were beyond wasted tired...slept til 11 the next morning. I put some ckn in the crock for some pulled chicken that night and we FINALLY drove to Blue Ridge to go to Mercier, home of the best apples and fried pies in the world! We got there not too long before closing time so got the tail end of the leftover pies and only had 4 choices of apples to pick from since it was off-season. We enjoyed a nice deli lunch of soup and sammies there in the deli and each bought a few things there. We literally shopped til we dropped. Came home and ate some BBQ and hot tubbed again and went to bed a lot earlier. We got up and all pitched in and got the house ready to leave. Ash packed the car for all of us like a pro, and we headed into town at around 9:30 to get some power steering stuff for the car. It was making all sorts of grinding sounds when we turned....We left around 10:30 to get Jamie to the airport and stopped at Sonny's to eat lunch:) It was so good. So nice to be able to sit down and actually come up w/ a meal i can eat off the menu. We dropped Jamie off and tried not to cry then jetted to Liz's, where her girls met us w/ open arms. Stayed a few then headed down the road. R and the boys must've texted 5x asking me where I was:)) I dropped Ash off at her car at her bro's house and headed home, where the boys had each picked out flowers for me, and E had written me 2 notes...1 saying "Am I a Milk" and the other "I love you"...just made me laugh. They were so excited and talking a million miles an hour so I was so loving that. I sure did miss them, even though I so needed the break. They have been so sweet ever since I've been gone.
Well, that's the recap. There's many more funny stories and memories involved, but these are the highlights and I will never forget this "b'day" trip for as long as I live. So fun to get away and be moms out on the town for once:) I need botox from all the craziness and laughter. Love my girls and feel blessed to have each of them in my life:))
One of the many attempts to take a great view pic of us off the back deck:) Love this one...we all dressed up for our last day in town...headed to Mercier right after this:)
