Went to church this morning and pastor spoke on Ecclesiastes, which has always been one of my favorite books in the Bible. So convicting, about how we can try to fill our life with a bunch of things, good things, to achieve that happiness and joy in our life. Seems like it's natural to try and fill our life with everything but God, first, and then scratch our heads and wonder why we feel so empty. I have been feeling that same thing lately and know that my priorities, although good, are not best. I've been forgetting a big key to it all, putting Christ first and actually seeking, actively seeking, Him. There's a reason why He tells us over and over to seek Him. I don't think we naturally do. Maybe someone who is really close to the Lord and has made a habit of consistently having that quiet time over the years? I don't know....I know I don't naturally just wake up and run to my Bible. But I want to. I love our church.
We went to Taco Bell after lunch, then scooted over to the manatee festival--will post some pics later. We let the kids play on the big wooden park playground, then dished out some $ and let them do all the bounce houses and slides and the trampoline w/ harness thingy. We finished up by letting them do the free area with crafts and all sorts of tunnels and ball games. They had such a blast. I took my hot little money and went in search of all things artsy/crafty in the festival, and only came back w/ a mini Louisville slugger for M's room, some fudge for R, and a cheapy pr of blk blingy sunglasses (5 bucks)....nothing was too amazing or unique, and what I did like, was overpriced. I amazed myself with my self-control:)
We came home and all took naps. It felt wonderful. Then R set up the new little dome tent he bought for the back yard and let the kids play in the sprinkler and pool for awhile...it is THAT hot. In the 80's today?! He ran to the store and when it got dark, he started a fire, and got out the mallows, and ran an extension chord to the tent so they could watch movies on the portable dvd player while eating white cheddar popcorn:) They look so cute out there. The dew is already soaking the outside of the tent, so I told Randall I give them til around 3am before they throw in the towel and head indoors:) Also told him, we should keep the tent set up in the yard and once a week they should camp out to give me a break!!! hhaa.
I've been inside shoveling through the house. I'd not really cleaned anything much for a week and it is deplorable. I go through phases like that, sadly, and it's really been bothering me. Amazing how depressed I get when the house gets so bad. I love things clean and organized. Last night R finally hung our new flatscreen on the wall in our bedroom. I love it! It's a smallish one, but so much nicer and more modern than our massive 32 inch w/ the huge tube, balancing way otop our tall dresser. We rearranged the dressers and took off the big old-school mirror on our low dresser, and hung the tv on the wall above it, sorta like a mirror. It looks SO great. I put a bunch of family pics on top the tall dresser along w/ my scentsy burner and it just looks so homey and nice in there now. I wish I'd have done some before/afters. Dang it.
I guess my "happy mail" made it's way to my peeps!! Well, I've not heard back from my nephew yet on the duct tape and markers. I read a blog (giverslog) where you can send anything 13 oz or less 1st class mail in the mail and they will deliver it!! It could be a blown up bouncy ball, flip flop, candy, mini m & M tube, etc!! so I mailed Tammy and Sandy each a neon flip flop...just a flip flop, not in a box or envelope. I addressed the flip flop and they taped the postage right to the flop! It was pretty funny seeing the PO employee. It was too fun. Also sent my neph a roll of duct tape, and then a pkg of markers for his arm cast. I just think it'd be awesome to open the mail and see something fun like that in there. So, I'll be doing more of that this year. Cost me $1.75 to send each flip flop. Not too shabby.
Well, off to clean and organize some more. I have a busy week this week, and then we're leaving for the beach to see Tammy/Sandy on Saturday for a couple days! I can't wait!
Later.
