So went to church yesterday morn and worked in E's class. He was home sick w/ Daddy and brother. Brother ended up getting sick too. PRAYING me and R don't get it:( esp this close to the race. TWO weeks away as of yesterday! Crazy! Anywho, had a fun time working in his class. The kids have been so nice the last few months.
Then went home and fell dead asleep on the couch with my church clothes on bc I was so wasted from the night before. I can never go to sleep after one of my parties and had drank alot of caffeine, so got to bed right before 3am. Just nonsense. I'm doing NO more caffeine or chocolate before the race. I am really gonna try hard. Will be tough, esp on the chocolate end. I go back and forth w/ the caffeine. Anywho, woke up from my nap, had one hr to wake up and get dressed and drive the hour over to Mom's to run in her neighborhood. I just can't run around my house. Too many hills and too many vacant wooded areas. It is so boring and scary for me. I take mace w/ me everytime I run, but worry more about the dogs than ppl, as FL folks have a strange love of pitbulls and then also love to let their dogs run loose. So ridiculous. So yeah, drove to Mom's and geared up. Had to do 2 loops of her 4 mile circle, then down 1/2 mile and back home. The 1st 2 miles were rough, but after that it went pretty quickly. My ending time didn't match up to how fast I felt I was running, so was curious about that. I felt I was doing around a 10 and 1/2 min pace, and prob'ly was bc I did stop briefly 3x to refill my water, talk to Mom as to where to turn around and etc. Was still messing around w/ my running technique so def felt that in my calves etc. At one point I thought, oh heck with this, and went back to running like I used to, and felt I was actually efforting more, so went back to the new way. I wish I'd found this info before now, as changing it up last minute is a lot to think about. But I think the race will go well. I keep telling myself that I will run it faster than I think bc I always run races so much faster w/ the ppl and crowds around me, and it will be all flat surfaces from what the race info is saying. Mom's neighborhood has alot of small rolling hills and 2 decent hills, so I think I will be able to do well as long as I don't get sick or go out too fast. The best part about my 9 miler was seeing Mom waiting in her rocking chair at the house for me, and clapping me home in the driveway!! Something about having family there cheering you on that can really get a fire under yer butt:) I can't wait to see them at the race, esp the kids:) They love going to watch me run and I need to get E running with me more. That's the goal after the race.
Stopped at Mickey D's on the way home (hey, lack of options!), and got a grilled ckn s'wich, small choc milk and water. Made it almost home and felt my stomach going south. Cramping up real bad and feeling queasy. So yeah, long story short, off and on the toilet for the next 2 hrs. Everytime I'd get off and walk to get water, or put the kids to bed, I'd start cramping again and hafta run. It was terrible. Still had a round w/ it this morning and had lost 3 lbs by what the scale said. UGH. R and Mom both said it was from all the junk I ate at the party. Pro'bly definately part of it, plus I think I didn't hydrate enough before. I finally got the cramping to stop by drinking a full glass of water and laying on my left side. I crashed out at about 10. So I will really be watching my diet and my water drinking, esp the week of the race. I do not drink enough, ever, so I will be mindful of that. I just don't want anything like that to hit in the middle of the race. UGH.
Well, the kids are getting dressed to go outside and ride some bikes. M has his cape and mask out. Ha. Maybe it'll make him ride faster. Need to do school. Not feeling too hot today and both boys are still a smidge sick w/ the snots/coughs and all. Gonna lysol bomb the house in a few and wash some bedding. Fun Fun.
Side note: sold over $400 at my party so looks like I'll get 60-some in free stuff and 3 1/2 price items if I want. Will be getting R's mom a plug-in and some scents and 1 or 2 new warmers for myself w/ some new scents. Party was fun and the food was great. The pulled bbq ckn s'wiches and homemade apple pie were a hit:)!
