Well, today I'm gonna do my favorite things about my kids:) Yesterday was an eventful day. Started out doing school after breakfast. We always do Bible first. I believe that's why I homeschool, so I can focus on his character and learning about the Lord. I feel like it would be a waste to homeschool my kids and not do that. We've been reviewing E's verses hardcore. He missed 2 weeks of Awana between the 2 trips, so wanted him to do 2 verses this week. Course then he comes home with only one checked off:/ Not sure if they even knew he knew 2?? or even checked? So I will hafta make sure they know in the future. He is doing so GOOD on his memorization, and usually only hafta give him the 1st word as a clue. Well we were going over his verses and then sin, heaven, how to get to Heaven, etc...and he asked me, "Is this for pretend?" I replied that no, this was for real. Went over John 3:16 and Rom.3:23 again and asked him if he wanted to go to heaven or hell when he died. He pointed up and def wanted to go to Heaven. Pointed down and said that's where you go if you don't have Jesus in your heart:) So I told him if he wanted to go up to Heaven when he died, that he needed to ask Jesus in his heart. He says, "what do I say??", so we prayed together, and he repeated everything I said. Seemed pretty matter of fact about it. I asked him if he really asked Jesus to come in and he said yes. So I told him, well, then HE DID! Talked about giving his life to Him, and asking Jesus to help him everyday to be a sweet and kind boy and help him obey Him. I think it clicked that day. Of course I sit and have my doubts, wondering if he REALLY believed, understood, etc, but then am reminded of the verses that talk about childlike faith and know that as much as he understood, he believed. I was so proud of him. He has really been a different kid since I've started homeschooling him. Much more even, less tantrums, WAYYY less spankings (can't remember when i gave him one??), much kinder to me and his brother. Wow, he's just growing and changing so much. So proud of him:))
Favorites Friday, so hmm, let's see: Miles 1st:
1) The way Miles says "all"...for instance: "Mommy! I ate my food ALL!" hhaa.
2) Mr. Sockhands...Miles goes to nap and when I go in to get him outta his crib after he wakes up, his socks are on his hands. He did it today in the bathroom before nap and then gets a mean voice and uses his sockhands as pinchers while saying "GWAB! GWAB! GWAB!!!" the kid is a riot. for real.
3) His love for animals: real and stuffed. Miles has always loved stuffed animals. He sleeps w/ 2 of those Furreal animals (don't think that's the name, but they purr and make noises). He has a panda and a leapord, who we call Tigey. He has to have them. He also loves this long, springy doggy, that looks like one of those door draft stoppers. He kisses them in their faces and uses doggy's tongue to say "wick, wick wick!" like he's licking. And he loves Lucy. He was petting a pug at the park today. So funny. just cracks me up!
4) His terminator voice. He does this when he doesn't want to do something. as in, "Mommy, I not go to nap!" Just funny and ridiculous.
5) His hugs. Miles' hugs are just insane. He gives you an arm-open-WIDE full hug. And hugs you for a long time. And, when he kisses you, he makes the smacking sound. SO CUTE! love his lovin's!!
EVAN:
1) I love how Evan always wants me to sleep w/ him in his bed. He loves to just talk to me and have me sing to him, tell stories and just lay there. Then he tells me, okay, g'night. That's my cue to go:)
2) one of my favorite things is how E is ticklish under his chin. I can make that kid laugh like no other doing that. SO funny.
3) Evan has mad dance skills. He matches his style of dancing to the music. Country music can produce some hilarious dance moves w/ him, and on occasion, he can bust out some Beyonce-worthy moves. He loves to MOVE!
4) Evan loves to laugh. One of my favorite things about him. He is so funny, has so many expressions, random gansta posing moments and cracks himself up constantly. Last night he was doing an add-on g'night story w/ us and his part was " and then it started raining gumballs"...and laughed hysterically for like 5 min. He is so crazy and funny and just a goof. I love that!
5) One of my favorite things about Evan is he is very social. He always has been. He doesn't understand if not all the boys at the Chick-fil-A playground wanna be his best friend. He runs after them, and strikes up a game of tag, tells them his name (with spelling) and is instant friends. He can be socially awkward for his age, but I find it cute. He went thru a stage of calling everyone "boy" and "girl", so had to tell him to ask their names. lol. I've watched him from afar at Awana and he always has to be talking. He loves to just chat. If there's not a kid around, then he talks to the teacher. He is one chatty kid. But in a nice way. I think he's so funny and cute, and even at VBS and summer camp, ppl always remembered him and commented on what a nice kid he was. I think he's just so friendly. Makes me :)
Well, just a few random favorites about my kids. Things that might seem silly or trivial to others, but things I want to remember about them at these ages. They have changed so much in the past year, it's crazy. I think God has been growing and changing my heart and patience levels too, so I'm able to enjoy them more. I'm thankful for that.
Today is 11-11-11. How weird is that. After next year, we won't have anymore cool dates like that;) wild!
Happy Friday!
