Started out the day by worshipping at church this morning. It was the sequel to his Raising Kids sermon series, which I only heard 1 of the 3 bc of our GA trip:( It was so great. I need to see if I can get cd's of it to finish listening.
Then we went to TB for lunch, then came home and packed and jumped in the car to go to Mom's for my last long run. Dad was actually home from his KS hunting trip. Didn't expect to see him til evening or not at all so that was cool! Heard all about his hunting adventures--he got 2 buck and 1 doe this year and his friend got 2 doe as well!! Was so happy for my Dad that the trip rocked so much, esp when he took a friend along. Nothing quite like southern KS deer hunting:)
Went out for my run at 4pm, 1/2 hr past when I wanted to. At mile 2, started realizing things weren't evening out. Felt flat and blah, and my legs were really feeling tired and jacked. Just feel my body is wearing down, plus, still dealing w/ mother nature, so it all combined to make a blah, no-energy, hopeless run. Made the 1st 4 in 45 min, then the last 4 in not quite an hour. NOT good...12 min mile average, but I walked a few times. I almost talked myself into stopping at mile 4, but convinced myself I could chill and take walk breaks and force myself to do one more loop of 4. The sun was behind the trees and almost dark by that point, and mentally I was done by about mile 5 due to bad arm chafing...guess I'd never worn a tank for a really long run?? so that was ticking me off. Never felt comfy in my stride, prob'ly bc my legs just felt so blah. Soooo, this week is taper week. Think I only have 7 or 8 miles total, then my race on Sunday morning at 6:30. I'm getting so nervous, so hoping I can get all my crap together, new race clothes bought and suitcase/food packed so I can chill a little. I want this to be fun, but my competitive self wants to hit around 2:20, so that time is nagging in the back of my brain. But I know I will take it in and enjoy it. Whatever my time, it'll be a PR:) and I always run faster when there's ppl around and the excitement of race day. Just hoping I can eat/fuel right and not feel sick or flat. I've only had 2 5k's like that and they were miserable. One being the Turkey Trot last year when I had a wicked kidney infection and didn't know it and was sick in bed the whole rest the weekend and in the dr's offc 1st thing Monday. Wondered why I sweat my boot off and had to walk a handful of times...course had to be the only run I challenged my bro in. He beat me w/ 28 and change, a time I'd beat plenty of times before.
Rambling. Better hit up bed soon. Planning on hoarding the sleep this week and doing not much of anything. I have about 59 loads of laundry to do, but thankfully no dishes!!! 3 days of school, grocery shopping and trip planning, and 3 short runs. Not to mention Thanksgiving and making green bean casserole, apple pie and rolls. Let the holidays begin:)!!!
Bye weekend! see you next week!
