Halloween and Cabin Trip

I will hafta post all my great pictures later, as I didn't upload them to Picasa yet and this phone svc up here in the mtn's is less than great. We are having a great time relaxing up in Ellijay (GA) at the cabin. We somehow got here at peak leaf change, and it is just GORGEOUS here! WOW! Never seen anything like this before. This morning before we left for the outlets, it sounded like it was raining outside bc the leaves were falling so fast. Looked like it was "snowing" leaves. So crazy! We spent a couple hours one morning gathering all the different colors and types of leaves for our leaf school paper. It was really fun!! We have not gotten really any other schooling done though, as all the boys want to do is just PLAY and run all day outside on the porch, and hike around the neighborhood. Miles has been riding his trike from the very top of the driveway all the way to the porch and giving me heart failure. That kid is something else.

We didn't really know what was going on for Halloween, and this was the 1st year I didn't really put any thought into costumes or any of that. I used the 90% off costumes I bought last year when the Halloween stuff was at it's lowest at Walmart. Somehow I only ended up with one pirate costume, although i SWEAR I had bought two. So, I convinced the boys they wanted to be a ninja (Miles) and a pirate (Evan). We went into town and hit up the dollar tree, my 1st choice for finding pirate/ninja swords and pirate hats, and hit the jackpot!!! Got E a pirate "kit" w/ a sword, hat, etc for a buck, Miles a ninja-like hatchet thingy for a buck, and a cool skull necklace for E for a buck. Course, everything is a buck, so not sure why I'm saying that! HA. Came home and got them into their costumes and somehow coerced Miles into trying on the stick-on fur mustaches I'd bought at DT also. He looked beyond hysterical in it and kept it on the entire night, even thru eating dinner and all. (yes, he got food in the stache. hhaa!) Then got E dressed and broke out my 90% off face paint from last year and painted them all up. the blue headwrap thingy that came w/ M's costume was so tiny it didn't even go 1/2 way around his head, so I had to paint that on too. It was so funny. I thought their costumes were the best yet, and with the least amt of time and effort, so a win-win all the way around!!! We hit up the "square" or really the circle in the middle of Ellijay, where all the shops are bc we heard the shops would be handing out candy between 4--7. We got there around 5 and by 6:30, everyone and their dog (literally) were there. I have never seen so many kids or ppl in costumes in my LIFE. talk about some interesting ppl watching!!! Really great time! Miles was the only tiny ninja I saw, so that was funny to me. Evan came across a lot of pirates, and when they asked him if they were buddies, he said "no". hhaa. he is so literal. We just had a really fun time. Oh, and i almost forgot, I found a clown nose and a big bow at the DT too, so put it on and some makeup and threw in some pigtails. I'm not into clowns at all, but it was either that or princess, and that wasn't gonna happen, so I did the clown. The boys thought it was SOO funny and cool, but I felt like a nerd the entire night. So yeah, that will prob'ly be my only dressup unless I can plan ahead and get something really cool. I'd love to take the idea off FB and do Kip and Napoleon Dynamite w/ the boys next year. How hilarious would that be!! Now I just need to spend the next 12 months letting the boys watch the movie and convince them. Should be easy;)!!

Well, better go. Hafta be checked outta here by Saturday at 11am bc renters are coming in. I'm so glad we got to get away. Just wish I'd been better organized with school and really stuck to my guns. Everything seems to go out the window when R is home. We've been being lazy and sleeping in til almost NINE every morning. Been so nice.

Well, better go clean up this joint. It's gotten pretty chaotic in the last couple days with never being home. Laundry to fold and tidying to do.
