Tacky Sweater Party Planning

So, just trying to get some chores done this week and keep up w/ things so I don't hafta go crazy on Friday, before my party. I'm throwing a crazy fun party and CAN'T WAIT!!! Last year I had a Christmas cookie and ornament exchange, but decided to switch things up a bit this year...so am having a Tacky Christmas Sweater and "As Seen on TV" gift exchange:) We'll all be voting on the tackiest sweater/outfit and I'll be awarding prizes to the top 3 ppl!!:) hhaa. It should be a riot. I can't give my outfit away on here yet, but I will be posting lots of crazy pics on here after Friday. I spent most of Sunday afternoon w/ my favorite cousin, Debbie, scouring the local thrifts and Claire's at the mall, to complete my outfit. And, the Napoleon Dynamite wig and glasses I got at the yard sale will bring my ensemble to the next level!! I did a dry run/dress rehearsal for Debbie and Randall on Sunday night, since Debbie will miss out on the fun:( and they were in hysterics. The outfit must put a good 30 lbs on me. Just goes to show what bad clothes can do.

I looked up some stuff online and came up w/ some ideas to make the party more tacky. Namely the food ideas, ideas for prizes, photo backdrops (still need to work on that) and game ideas. Finally decided that a photo scavenger hunt was the way to go. We'll split up into 2-3 teams of 4-6 ppl, depending on how many ppl show, and hit the town. I have a list of 14 things to do to get everyone participating. And yes, that means we'll be out in public, dressed like complete idiots:)!!! It's gonna be epic. I hope everyone plays along and has as much fun as I think I will:) I remember, yrs ago, doing a similar scavenger hunt and how insanely FUN it was for everyone. I just hope it will be a night to remember, w/ priceless pics as memories to hold onto for yrs.

The last couple of days have been a lot better here. Been trying some new tactics w/ the kids and just spending a lot more undivided attn w/ the boys. We did school for over 2 hrs today and Evan was so into it. He is doing so awesome, and is so smart. He also went to Awana tonight and quoted FOUR verses, which made me so proud!!! He'd been gone for a week, so basically that broke down to 2 verses per week. We've been "rapping" the verses so he can remember the long ones easier. Wish I was a fly on the wall in his class to see if he raps them to his teacher:) hey, whatever works! He got his 1st award tonight at his awards ceremony, and was the youngest in his Sparks class:) He was so happy with himself and just beamed up there:))) I'm so proud of my boys. They had a small Christmas party after, with pizza and candy and came home w/ a snowglobe and Christmasy new testament. I thought that was really cool.

Well, better hit the hay. Much to do tomorrow, including going to pick up the 1st and 2nd place prizes for the sweater competition. I'll post pics of that too. hhaa. I'm so hoping everyone just has a blast. If it's anything like last year, they will. Just laughing and looking ridiculous should do our souls good this time of year. I've been feeling stressed lately. I so need to let my hair down. Except that it'll be in a bun under my wig;)))!
